Its Latin name, Lignum Vitae, translates as the "Tree of Life". Long known as the hardest timber in the world, Ironwood has incredible strength, only matched by its beauty. Ironwood has been used in both aesthetic and utilitarian endeavors for centuries. From ornate carvings to pulleys for hoisting, it's strength is unmatched.

This design pairs the hardest natural metal in the world, with the hardest natural timber. I brush and hammer the exterior to a smooth rustic look. All titanium rings with inlays are sealed with Titanium Aircraft Adhesive, and each ring is sealed in lustrous water resistant finish. Finally the rings are polished with beeswax. We use jewelers grade 5 6AL-4V titanium in every ring.

My 6mm Hercules lasted a year and 8 months before having issues. Finally the adhesive gave out completely & I got a Norseman as a warranty replacement (by paying the difference in price). The coloration of the ironwood wasn’t always so dark, the wood patinas with time and skin oils. Superglue does work as a temporary fix, but I’m sure there’s a better alternative out there as well. For now I’m happy to have 2 great rings, one with a manageable defect!

My husband lost his wedding band a couple of years ago so, for our 10 year anniversary I decided to get him a new one. He’s not a very traditional guy and really likes unique, non-traditional things. I found Thorum when searching for wood wedding bands. I immediately fell in love with their designs and their story. I loved the beautiful wood on the inside and the rustic metal (tin for 10) on the outside. It’s lightweight and reportedly very comfortable. He’s been wearing it since I gave it to him. Super pretty and exactly what we were looking for! My fiancee took a really long time to choose something he really liked and when he saw it in person finally, he knew he’d made the right choice. The titanium is a much better choice for guys not wanting a bright white gold/platinum ring... The finish he puts on titanium makes the ring look not only individually unique but a lot less processed like some of the boiler plate hammered finishes offered elsewhere. The wood inlay of this band makes it extremely comfortable, I can’t emphasize that enough... The width is perfect for his hand, too. Honestly this exactly what he was looking for!
